At a recent trip to Greve in Chianti, Tuscany, we experienced a lovely wine tasting with our host Massi, a sommelier at Intimate Wine winery. Massi presented three Chianti Wines - Classico, Classico Riserva and Classico Gran Selezione, and described the different sensations on the palate of each type. We recently spent four nights in Greve in Chianti, Tuscany. We reached out to Massi and Emily at Intimate.Wine  who arranged the most amazing experiences for us. We had a cooking class with Chef Giovanni with a wine pairing with Massi  (a sommelier).  In typical Italian style, together we made a five course meal in the comfort of our apartment we rented. (Accommodation also arranged by Intimate.Wine). It was the best ever cooking class. The next day Massi toured us to a couple of unique wineries. Both with very different concepts of wine producing and both offering amazing wines. We stopped for lunch at a lovely restaurant that overlooked the vineyards. Unforgettable days.  Massi and Emily recommended restaurants and other things for us to do. They went above and beyond to even make us dinner reservations, reservations for an olive oil tasting and connected us with a guide in Siena.  Oh yes and Emily introduced us to a Stained Glass Master who let us in for a sneak peak behind the scenes where this art takes place. Thank you so much Emily and Massi.

We connected with Massi in advance via email and discussed how best to visit Chianti Classico. He was raised there, knows wine and knows everyone. The itinerary he planned for us was exactly what we hoped for. We connected in Greve and we spent two days with him. He was incredibly helpful in every way. Massi arranged a terrific chef dinner for us at our vacation apartment, where he hosted and served as sommelier. As we were staying in his area, he also graciously helped us with various other dinner plans and logistics when some parts of our trip plans went awry. On a recent trip to Italy our party of six ran into a few snags, an inability to rent a car being the most noteworthy. Originally, Massimiliano was only contracted to organize a dinner for us. He hired a personal chef and orchestrated a wonderful four course dinner that we will be talking about for years to come. When he found out that we had no transportation to a couple of dinners off premise he offered his assisitance.  At one point he even did some shopping for us.  His level of accommodation was over and above anything we had a right to expect. Obviously, he was paid for his services but in light of our desperate circumstances his bill was most agreeable. Also, and most importantly, he is a gem of a guy and we connected with him in a most personal manner.
