Let’s start with this: we live here. Right in the heart of Chianti. In Greve in Chianti, to be exact — the center of Chianti Classico (it’s in the name), where the cobblestones are worn smooth by generations of footsteps and the pace of life is still set by the sun, the seasons, and the harvest.
When we’re not hosting intimate tastings through Intimate.Wine, we welcome guests to our lovingly restored apartment on the oldest street in town. From our windows, we hear church bells, morning town chatter, and sometimes, if we’re lucky, the clink of glasses toasting another day in Tuscany.
So yes — we’re a little biased. But if you’ve ever sipped a glass of Chianti Classico while the hills blush with sunset and the scent of rosemary drifts through the air… you’ll get it.

Via Roma – the original street of Greve. Tavola Longa 2025, held once per year by a local restaurant. Open to anyone interested to attend.
What Makes Chianti So Special?
It’s not just the wine — though we’ll get to that.
Chianti is a region where time slows. It’s where mornings are for walks among olive groves, afternoons for long lunches under wisteria, and evenings are best spent with a bottle uncorked and a story or two. The rolling vineyards, the medieval hamlets, the wood-fired everything — they’re not set-dressing. They’re real life.
And at the center of it all? Sangiovese.

A classic flight through Chianti Classico, every bottle from Castello di Verrazzano tells a deeper story of place, patience, and passion. Which would you uncork first?
Chianti Classico: More Than Just a Label
You’ve probably seen the black rooster on a bottle before — but what does it really mean?
That’s the seal of Chianti Classico, one of Italy’s most historic and protected wine regions. Sangiovese is the soul of this wine — bright, structured, complex — and each bottle tells the story of its slope, its soil, and its season.
But here’s the thing: not all Chianti is created equal. And not all Chianti Classico is easy to understand. Vintage, vineyard altitude, winemaking style — it all matters.
Which brings us to this…
Why Hire a Private Sommelier?
You hire a guide for the Uffizi. A truffle hunter to walk the woods. A chef to teach you pasta from scratch. So why not hire a wine guide — a local sommelier — to help you drink better, deeper, and more intentionally?
Here’s what a private sommelier brings to your Chianti experience:
- Local insight — not just the big names, but the family-run cantinas doing exceptional work.
- Context — understanding the land, the DOCG regulations, the microclimates, and why that glass tastes like cherry in one place and leather in another.
- Connection — maybe even introductions to winemakers themselves. These are relationships built over time.
- Translation — not just of language, but of culture. Of wine lists. Of what “Riserva” really means and whether it’s worth it.
In short: a sommelier helps turn your wine experience into a Chianti memory.
